Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-09-28

These terms are the agreement between you and Trust in food snc di Emanuele e Stefano Nozza when you use Comedy Roaster. They are written to be read, not to be survived.

What this is

Comedy Roaster is a place to write jokes and have them judged. The judge is an artificial intelligence model, which scores each joke across six dimensions and suggests one fix. There is a daily challenge, duels voted on by other people, leaderboards, a lesson library, and a party game, Roast Night.

The service is provided by Trust in food snc di Emanuele e Stefano Nozza, Corso Milano 51, 20813 Bovisio Masciago (MB), Italia, VAT 09574370962.

How you accept these terms

You accept these terms when you create an account, publish a joke, join a Roast Night room, or subscribe. Each of those screens says so and links here.

If you do not accept them, you can read the site but not use those features.

Who can use it

You must be at least 16. If you are 16 or 17, you need a parent's agreement before you subscribe.

You need an account only to keep your progress. Writing a joke and getting it judged requires nothing.

Your account

You sign in with a link sent to your email, so there is no password. Keep control of that mailbox: anyone with access to it can get into your account.

One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone else, and do not pick a stage name designed to look like someone you are not.

What you write stays yours

You keep every right you have in the jokes you write. We do not claim ownership of them.

To run the service we need permission to use them: you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute your public submissions inside Comedy Roaster — in duels, on leaderboards, in the public archive, and in the preview images generated when someone shares a result.

Roast Night answers are seen by the table and by anyone who opens the room's results page, which can only be reached with the link and is not indexed. For that use you grant us the same licence, limited to that room and its results page.

This licence exists so the site can show your joke to the people voting on it. It does not let us sell your material or put it in advertising without asking you.

The licence ends for future uses when you delete your content, with one honest exception: copies already distributed by other people, and archived pages already collected by search engines, are outside our control.

The judgment comes from an AI model

Scores, comments and rewrites are generated automatically by an artificial intelligence model: Claude, by Anthropic. The site says so where they appear.

The score is an opinion generated by software, and it is wrong sometimes — about you, and about jokes that deserve better. You are free to disagree.

It is not a professional assessment of your talent, not career advice, and not a promise of any result. It has no legal effect on you. Treat a bad score as one room not laughing, because that is exactly what it is.

How to behave

Roasting, insults, dark humour and vulgarity are the genre, not a violation. Public figures are fair game. The limit is the law, and it is listed below.

Not allowed, and will get content removed: attacks on people because of ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other protected characteristic; harassment or threats; private information about real people, or exposing it; sexual content involving minors; encouraging a real person to harm themselves; impersonating someone else; illegal material.

When these rules are broken we may remove content, reduce an account's visibility, or close an account. How we do it is explained in the section on reports.

Roast Night

Inside a room, the table decides. There is no automated filter during play: only the players' votes count.

Before the game starts, whoever opened the room can remove a player: they leave the room and can't get back in from that phone, not even for the rematch.

Rooms are private: only people with the code can join. The results page can only be reached with the link and is not indexed.

After a round has closed, answers may be evaluated by an AI model, which computes the scores in your profile and flags answers the automated joke check would have blocked. Flagged answers are removed from the public results page. The same applies to company events.

Reports and moderation

There is a single point of contact for users and authorities under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA): privacy@comedyroaster.com. You can write to us in Italian or English.

You can report content with the “Report” button on any public content, from the page comedyroaster.com/en/report, linked at the bottom of every page, or by email.

A report says where the content is and why it is illegal or against these terms. It includes your name, your email, and a statement that what you write is in good faith, accurate and complete. Name and email are not needed if you are reporting child sexual abuse material.

If you leave an email, we confirm that we received the report. A person reviews it. We decide without undue delay and tell you what we decided.

There are three possible measures: hiding the content, reducing an account's visibility, closing an account. In addition, the automated check can block a joke before it is published: that is an automated decision, and the page tells you so.

If a decision concerns your content or your account, you see the reasons on the content's page, and you receive them by email when we have your address. The statement says what we did, whether the decision was automated, on what ground — a law or these terms — and how to contest it.

To contest, reply to that email or write to privacy@comedyroaster.com within six months. A person reviews the decision again. You can always go to court as well.

Anyone who repeatedly posts manifestly illegal content is suspended. Where the law requires it, for example when someone's life or safety is under threat, we inform the authorities.

Paid plans

Free accounts get the daily challenge and a small number of judgments per day. Paid plans add the practice room and additional features, described on the plans page at the price shown there. Prices include VAT.

Subscriptions, monthly or yearly, renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time: from your profile, through the Stripe portal, or from the “Cancel or withdraw” page (comedyroaster.com/en/cancel), linked at the bottom of every page and usable without signing in. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Once the 14-day withdrawal period is over, cancelling does not entitle you to a pro-rata refund.

Pro includes up to 25 model judgments per day, as the plans page states. Elite includes everything in Pro, plus what is described on the same page.

Prices may change. Changes never affect a period already paid for, and we tell registered users before a change takes effect. Founder pricing, where offered, holds for as long as the subscription continues without interruption.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 days from the purchase to withdraw without giving a reason. The subscription is a digital service.

At checkout, with a mandatory checkbox, you expressly ask us to start immediately and acknowledge that, if you withdraw within the 14 days, you pay only for the days of service already provided (Article 57(3) of the Italian Consumer Code). We refund the rest within 14 days of your withdrawal, using the same payment method.

To withdraw, use the withdrawal button on the “Cancel or withdraw” page (comedyroaster.com/en/cancel), without signing in, or send any clear statement to privacy@comedyroaster.com. We confirm receipt by email, with the date and time.

When you withdraw, the subscription ends and your account goes back to the free plan. Your jokes stay where they are.

Availability

We work to keep the service up, but we do not promise it will be. There will be maintenance, failures, and days when the judging model is slower than it should be.

We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue something you are paying for, we will refund the unused part of your period.

Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and tell registered users by email.

If a change that matters affects paid plans, we tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect. In the meantime you can cancel.

Ending it

You may stop using Comedy Roaster whenever you like and ask us to delete your account.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Except in serious cases we will tell you why first.

Law and disputes

Italian law governs these terms. If you are a consumer, you can also rely on the mandatory protections of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings before the courts of your own place of residence.

If you have a complaint, write to privacy@comedyroaster.com first. If you are a consumer, you can also turn to an alternative dispute resolution body where one is available, without giving up your right to go to court.
